The site had been allocated for development for up to three dwellings in the Shillingstone Neighbourhood Plan adopted in 2018.
The site comprises part of the large garden of property fronting Blandford Road and an adjoining paddock. Once part of an orchard there were few trees remaining and the site was mainly grass.
The development was set back from the lane to retain important trees and to leave room for further enhancement planting, safeguarding the unspoilt rural aspect.
The traditional designs and high‐quality finishes preserve the character of the Conservation Area.
Planning permission was granted in 2020.
